Last updated: 30 October 2026

1. Your Relationship with Legal Translation Australia

Legal Translation Australia (hereinafter referred to as "LTA") is operated by Language Masters Pty Ltd (ABN 31 151 714 519). Your use of our services and website (referred to collectively as the "Services" in this document) is subject to the terms of a legal agreement between you and LTA. This document explains how the agreement is made up, and sets out the terms of that agreement.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing with LTA, your agreement with LTA will always include, at a minimum, the terms and conditions set out in this document. Collectively, this legal agreement is referred to below as the "Terms".

In order to use our Services, you must first agree to the Terms. You may not use our Services if you do not accept the Terms. You can accept the Terms by actually using the Services. In this case, you understand and agree that LTA will treat your use of the Services as acceptance of the Terms from that point onwards.

2. Exclusion of Warranties

2.1 Nothing in these Terms shall exclude or limit LTA's warranty or liability for losses which may not be lawfully excluded or limited by applicable law. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or conditions or the limitation or exclusion of liability for loss or damage caused by negligence, breach of contract or breach of implied terms, or incidental or consequential damages. Accordingly, only the limitations which are lawful in your jurisdiction will apply to you and our liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

2.2 You expressly understand and agree that your use of the Services is at your sole risk and that the Services are provided "as is" and "as available."

2.3 In particular, LTA, its subsidiaries and affiliates do not represent or warrant to you that:

2.4 No advice or information, whether oral or written, obtained by you from LTA or through or from the Services shall create any warranty not expressly stated in the Terms.

2.5 LTA further expressly disclaims all warranties and conditions of any kind, whether express or implied, including, but not limited to the implied warranties and conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

3. Responsibility and Limitation of Liability

3.1 The Services shall be carried out using reasonable skill and care in accordance with the standards of the translation industry.

3.2 LTA shall use all reasonable skill and care in selecting translators and other personnel used to produce the translated works ("Translated Works") and perform the Services.

3.3 LTA shall incur no liability to you for innocent or negligent misrepresentation by virtue of any statement made by or on behalf of LTA prior to, during or after delivery, whether orally or in writing, and you shall not be entitled to cancellations, claims or refunds on the grounds of any such misrepresentation.

3.4 LTA does not warrant that the Translated Works will meet your specific requirements and, unless otherwise agreed, we do not warrant that the Translated Works will be uninterrupted or error free. Furthermore, LTA does not warrant or make any representation regarding the use of the Translated Works in terms of their acceptance by any third party, including but not limited to government agencies, immigration authorities, courts, tribunals, registries, insurers, or employers.

3.5 You acknowledge that any original works and Translated Works submitted by and to you over the Internet are not free from the risk of interception, even if transmitted in encrypted form, and that we have no liability for the loss, corruption or interception of any original works or Translated Works.

3.6 Save in respect of death or personal injury resulting from our negligence and subject to clause 3.7, our liability to you in respect of the provision of the Services and/or the Translated Works shall be limited as follows: We shall not be liable for loss of profits, business, contracts, revenue, damage to your reputation or goodwill, anticipated savings, and/or any other indirect or consequential loss or damage whatsoever. Our entire liability to you under any contract or agreement, including but not limited to in respect of the Services and the Translated Works, shall not exceed 20% of the amount equivalent to the quoted fees respective to any project.

3.7 You must notify LTA by email within 30 days of delivery of the Translated Works of any claim arising out of the provision of the Services and/or the Translated Works, together with full details of such claim. In any event, we shall not be liable to you if you fail to notify LTA by email of any claim within a reasonable time of delivery of the Translated Works.

3.8 You must notify LTA by email within 30 days of delivery of the Translated Works of any alleged inaccuracies in the Translated Works, at which point our liability will be no more than to rectify any such alleged inaccuracies, that we determine to be justified, to our satisfaction. At no time will such allegations be grounds for delayed payment.

3.9 LTA shall not be held responsible for keeping copies of any Translated Work beyond 60 days of delivery and you acknowledge that any retrieval of past Translated Works after a significant time represents a considerable increase in workload and may not be fulfilled.

3.10 Our translations are provided for informational and documentary purposes. We do not accept liability for legal, financial or other decisions made based on our translations.

4. Not Legal Advice

Our service translates documents. We are not a law firm and we do not provide legal advice, explain the legal effect of a document, or advise whether a document is suitable for a particular purpose. Please obtain advice from a lawyer where you need it.

The translation reflects the content of the source document as issued. We do not verify the authenticity, validity or legal effect of the source document. Any errors, omissions, or inaccuracies present in the source document may be carried over into the translation.

Translator affidavits, where a court or other body asks for one, are not included in the price of a translation and are quoted separately, where available.

5. Quotation and Pricing

All prices are quoted in Australian Dollars (AUD) and include GST where applicable. Standard documents may be priced instantly on our website when you upload them; other documents receive a written quote after we review them. A written quote is valid for 14 days from the date of issue.

Pricing is based on document length, complexity, language pair, certification type, and turnaround speed requested. No work commences until payment is received in full.

By making payment, you confirm that you have reviewed and accepted the quote, including the stated price, turnaround time, and certification type.

6. Cancellations

6.1 Should you, following payment and pending the delivery of the contracted work, request cancellation, LTA will exercise its right to receive full payment of the quoted sum. In this event, LTA also exercises its right to not provide partially complete or incomplete delivery of any Translated Works and further Services.

6.2 Refunds may be provided at LTA's sole discretion if cancellation is requested before any translation work has commenced. Once work has begun, no refund is available.

6.3 If LTA is unable to deliver the translation (e.g., no translator available for the language pair), a full refund will be processed to the original payment method within 5-10 business days.

7. Turnaround Times

Turnaround times are estimates provided in good faith based on the document type, length, and language pair. Turnaround times commence from receipt of payment, not from the time of quote submission.

While we make every effort to meet stated deadlines, delays may occur due to document complexity, translator availability, or quality assurance requirements. We will notify you promptly of any anticipated delay. Delays in delivery do not constitute grounds for cancellation or refund where the delay is reasonable in the circumstances.

8. Delivery Policy

8.1 Delivery of translation services will be provided by email.

8.2 Certified translations may be posted to your given address if this is stated by email before job commencement. Postage incurs an additional fee.

8.3 LTA assumes no responsibility for the postage services provided by Australia Post or any other mail provider in the delivery of hard copy document translations.

8.4 LTA does not provide or assume responsibility for investigating failed delivery by Australia Post or any other mail provider. With your use of the Services, you accept that any repost of translations will incur additional postage and handling costs, and is subject to delays.

8.5 With your use of the Services, you accept that the translator makes the final decision for any changes requested with regards to translations delivered.

8.6 With your use of the Services, you accept that all changes requested for translation must be communicated clearly in writing via email for consideration, and for further delivery if changes are made to the translations.

8.7 With your use of the Services, you accept that extract translation may be provided if determined appropriate by the translator for the delivery of certified translations.

8.8 With your use of the Services, you accept that you may not change the document for translation once payment has been made. Any further document submissions will be quoted separately.

8.9 With your use of the Services, you accept that the translator cannot correct any perceived or known errors or mistakes on the source document for translation by using translation.

8.10 With your use of the Services, you accept that the translator is not responsible for providing currency conversion, interpretation, explanation or reference notes, in addition to the actual translation provided.

8.11 With your use of the Services, you accept that the translator will consider but cannot be pressured, coerced or forced to accept official spelling of names if it does not match the source document, for English name spellings derived from languages such as Thai, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Farsi, Greek, Russian and Ukrainian. With your use of the Services, you accept that any demands from yourself for the translator to add or remove items in the translation inconsistent to the source document can be regarded as unethical and criminal in intent.

8.12 With your use of the Services, you accept that the translator will not consider requests or demands to provide name spelling changes that are not consistent with the source document which the translation is based on. With your use of the Services, you accept that any requests or demands from yourself for the translator to make such name spelling changes can be regarded as unreasonable, unethical and criminal in intent.

8.13 By using the Services, you acknowledge and agree that translations provided may not be accurate, complete, or suitable for any specific purpose, including submissions to governmental, regulatory, judicial, or other authorities.

9. Confidentiality

We recognise that legal documents often contain sensitive personal information. All knowledge and information expressly identified by you in writing as confidential which LTA acquires shall be maintained in confidentiality by LTA and used only for the purposes of providing the Services. Unless expressly authorised by you in writing, these knowledge and information shall not be published by LTA and shall not be authorised by LTA to be published by others.

Documents are uploaded over an encrypted connection. Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

10. Document Accuracy and Quality

If you identify a material error in the translation (defined as a mistranslation, omission, or factual inaccuracy relative to the source document), notify us by email within 30 days of delivery and we will review and, if warranted, correct it at no additional charge.

Requests for stylistic changes, alternative terminology preferences, or additional content not present in the source document are not covered by this correction policy and may incur additional fees.

11. Intellectual Property

The source document remains the property of the client or the original author. The translated document is the property of the client upon full payment.

We retain no rights to use, reproduce, or distribute translated documents or their source materials beyond what is necessary to provide the service and maintain quality assurance records.

With your use of the Services, you warrant that the requested translation does not infringe any copyright or any other right derived from the intellectual or industrial property of the documentation delivered for translation and that it will not be destined to any illegal use. You agree to indemnify and hold LTA harmless from any claim presented by third parties in this respect.

12. Client Responsibilities

The client is responsible for:

13. Payment

Payment is accepted via credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) processed securely through Stripe. Payment must be received in full before translation work begins.

By making payment, you confirm that you have reviewed and accepted the quote, including the stated price, turnaround time, and certification type. Payment constitutes acceptance of these Terms in full.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes arising from these Terms or our services will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.

15. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect upon publication on this page. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
