Power of Attorney Translation

Translations of powers of attorney, notarial deeds and their attached certificates, in both directions.

What we translate

A power of attorney lets one person act for another, and it is often needed in a country where the person giving it does not live. A Spanish poder notarial, an Italian procura, a German Vollmacht, a French procuration, a Portuguese procuração, a Greek πληρεξούσιο and a Chinese 委托书 all do a similar job, but they are drafted in very different styles. Many are notarial deeds with a fixed formula, a notary's seal and an apostille attached. We translate the whole instrument, including the notarial wording and every attached certificate.

What makes these documents tricky

The value of a power of attorney lies in its scope: exactly what the attorney may do, with which property, and for how long. A loose rendering of a single clause can widen or narrow that scope, so the operative wording is translated closely and consistently. Notarial formulas, the identification of each party by identity number and address, descriptions of property and bank accounts, and references to the local civil code all need care. The signatures, seals and stamps on the original are described in place so the reader can follow the document page by page.

Who needs it

Rules on how a power of attorney must be made, witnessed and translated vary from country to country, so check with the body you are submitting to, or with a lawyer, before you order.

Certified or professional translation?

Choose certified if the translation will be relied on by a bank, a registry, a notary or a court. It is translated and certified by a NAATI certified translator. Choose professional translation (non-certified) for drafts and review before a document is finalised. Company certification by Language Masters Pty Ltd is available on request for added assurance of accuracy.

We translate existing documents only. We do not draft, witness or notarise a power of attorney, and we cannot advise whether one will be valid in another country.

How it works

Upload every page of the deed and every attached certificate. Short powers of attorney in many languages are priced instantly; long notarial deeds receive a written quote by email. Your translation is delivered by email as a PDF.

Translation, not legal advice

We translate what your documents say. We do not advise on their legal effect, and we cannot confirm whether a particular court or agency will accept them. Please check requirements with the receiving body or your lawyer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you prepare a power of attorney for me in another language?

No. We translate documents that already exist. A lawyer or notary needs to prepare the power of attorney; once it is final, we can translate it.

Is the apostille translated too?

Yes, if it is in a foreign language and included in your upload. Apostilles and notarial certificates are translated as part of the document.

The document lists property and bank accounts. Are those translated?

Yes. Property descriptions, account details, identity numbers and addresses are reproduced exactly, so they can be matched against the original records.

Will my power of attorney work overseas once translated?

That is a legal question we cannot answer. A translation shows what the document says; whether it is valid in another country depends on that country's law, so ask a lawyer there.
