Legal Letter & Notice Translation

Translations of lawyers' letters, demands, notices and subpoenas, so you know exactly what you have received, or so the other side does.

What we translate

Legal correspondence tends to arrive without warning and in a language you may not read. A German Bußgeldbescheid or Mahnbescheid, an Italian verbale di contestazione for a traffic offence, a French mise en demeure or avis de contravention, a Spanish requerimiento, a Chinese 律师函 or a Japanese 内容証明郵便 can each carry a deadline. In the other direction, an Australian letter of demand or notice may need to reach someone overseas in their own language. We translate both ways.

What makes these documents tricky

A legal letter is short, but its consequences sit in the detail: the amount claimed, the date by which something must be done, the reference number to quote, and the authority it comes from. We translate every figure, date and reference exactly as written, and keep the letterhead details and any payment or response instructions. Official notices often use standard bureaucratic wording that sounds harsher or milder than it is when rendered loosely, so we keep the tone of the original rather than softening or sharpening it. If a notice carries a deadline, mention it in your enquiry.

Who needs it

Certified or professional translation?

Choose professional translation (non-certified) to find out what a letter says; it is often the quickest way to decide what to do next. Company certification by Language Masters Pty Ltd is available on request for added assurance of accuracy. Choose certified if the translation will be filed with a court, served on someone or given to an authority. It is translated and certified by a NAATI certified translator. If you are not sure, check with your lawyer or the body involved.

How it works

Upload a clear copy of every page, including the envelope or any enclosed forms if they carry text. Short letters and notices in many languages are priced instantly; long correspondence files receive a written quote by email. Your translation is delivered by email as a PDF.

Translation, not legal advice

We translate what your documents say. We do not advise on their legal effect, and we cannot confirm whether a particular court or agency will accept them. Please check requirements with the receiving body or your lawyer.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have received a fine from overseas. Can you tell me if I have to pay it?

No. We translate the notice so you can see exactly what it says, including amounts and dates. Whether you must pay is a question for a lawyer or the issuing authority.

Can you translate our letter of demand into another language?

Yes. Upload the final version and choose the target language. If the letter will be served or relied on, choose certified.

Do you translate the enclosed forms too?

Only if you include them. Upload everything that came with the letter and tell us which parts you need translated.

Can you reply to the letter for me?

No. We translate correspondence but do not write legal replies. Once your lawyer has written a reply, we can translate it.
