English translations of overseas divorce, custody and marriage records, and translations of Australian family law documents for use abroad.
Family law matters often turn on records issued in another country, sometimes many years ago. A Chinese 离婚证 or civil mediation statement, a Vietnamese quyết định công nhận thuận tình ly hôn, a Polish wyrok rozwodowy, an Iranian divorce certificate or a Lebanese religious court ruling each record the end of a marriage in a different way. Some are issued by a court, some by a civil registry and some by a religious authority, and many carry marginal notes added years later. We translate every part of the document, including annotations, registration numbers, seals and stamps.
Family status terms do not map neatly from one legal system to another. Custody, guardianship, residence and parental responsibility mean different things in different countries, so we translate the term the document actually uses rather than substituting an Australian one. Names cause the other common problem: the same person may appear under a married name on one record and a birth name on another, or in a different romanisation on each. Tell us the spelling used in your passport and we will apply it consistently across every document in your order.
Requirements differ between courts, registries and agencies, so check with the body you are submitting to, or with your lawyer, before you order.
Choose certified if the translation will be lodged with a court, a registry or a government department. It is translated and certified by a NAATI certified translator. Choose professional translation (non-certified) for review and reference, for example reading an order made in your former partner's home country before seeing a lawyer. Company certification by Language Masters Pty Ltd is available on request for added assurance of accuracy.
Upload a clear scan or photo of every page, including the reverse of any page with a stamp or handwritten note. Single-page divorce and marriage certificates in many languages are priced instantly. Long judgments, settlement agreements and bundles of family court papers receive a written quote by email. Your translation is delivered by email as a PDF.
We translate what your documents say. We do not advise on their legal effect, and we cannot confirm whether a particular court or agency will accept them. Please check requirements with the receiving body or your lawyer.
Yes. We translate what the document says, including the authority that issued it. Whether a religious divorce has legal effect in Australia is a question for a lawyer, not a translator.
Tell us the spelling in your passport when you order. We use it throughout, so the divorce record, marriage certificate and any orders all match.
That depends on the body you are dealing with, so check their instructions. If you need both, upload them together and we will translate them in one order.
No. We translate the document faithfully. We do not explain what an order means for you or what to do next; please speak to a family lawyer for that.
Upload your documents. Standard documents are priced instantly; anything else gets a written quote by email.
