Police Check & Criminal Record Translation

Translations of police clearance and criminal record certificates, into English and from English.

What we translate

Almost every country issues some form of police clearance, but no two look alike. A Chinese 无犯罪记录证明, a Japanese 犯罪経歴証明書, a Korean 범죄경력회보서, a Vietnamese Phiếu lý lịch tư pháp, a German Führungszeugnis, an Italian certificato del casellario giudiziale, a Brazilian certidão de antecedentes criminais and a Turkish adli sicil kaydı are all police or judicial record certificates, yet they are issued by different bodies, in different formats and with different wording. We translate them in both directions.

What makes these documents tricky

A police certificate is short, but every line matters. The wording of a nil result varies from country to country, and we translate it exactly as written rather than rephrasing it into a standard Australian form. Where offences are listed, we render the offence names and any statute references as they appear on the certificate; we do not interpret codes or abbreviations that the document itself does not explain. Issue dates, validity periods, reference numbers and online verification codes are reproduced precisely so the reader can check the original with the issuing authority.

Who needs it

Some authorities set their own rules on how recent a police certificate must be, or ask for it to be legalised or apostilled first. That step is separate from translation, so check with the body you are submitting to before you order.

Certified or professional translation?

Choose certified for any application to a government department, employer or licensing body. It is translated and certified by a NAATI certified translator. Choose professional translation (non-certified) for reference copies and internal records. Company certification by Language Masters Pty Ltd is available on request for added assurance of accuracy.

How it works

Upload a clear scan or photo of the whole certificate, including the back and any attached notarial or apostille pages. Police certificates in many languages are priced instantly when you upload. Your translation is delivered by email as a PDF.

Translation, not legal advice

We translate what your documents say. We do not advise on their legal effect, and we cannot confirm whether a particular court or agency will accept them. Please check requirements with the receiving body or your lawyer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you translate my Australian police check into another language?

Yes. Upload the certificate and choose the target language. We translate it in full, including the reference number and any verification details.

Will you translate the apostille page as well?

If the apostille or notarial certificate is in a foreign language, include it in your upload and it will be translated with the certificate. Tell us if you only want the certificate itself.

My certificate shows offence codes. Will you explain them?

We translate what is printed on the certificate. We do not interpret codes that the document does not explain; the issuing authority can tell you what they refer to.

How recent does my police certificate need to be?

Each authority sets its own rule, so check with the body asking for it. We translate the certificate exactly as issued, including its dates.
