Affidavit & Statutory Declaration Translation

Translations of declarations, affidavits and sworn statements that have already been made, in Australia or overseas.

What we translate

Sworn statements are made all over the world, and each legal system has its own form. An Indian affidavit on stamp paper in Hindi, Punjabi or Gujarati, a Spanish declaración jurada, an Italian dichiarazione sostitutiva di atto di notorietà, a Portuguese declaração before a notary, a Chinese notarial statement (声明书 with a 公证书) and an Arabic sworn declaration each set out facts under oath or affirmation in a different way. We translate declarations and affidavits that already exist, in full.

What we do not do

We translate existing documents only. We do not draft declarations or affidavits, take oaths, or witness them. If you need to make a new declaration, speak to a lawyer or a person authorised to witness it, then send us the completed document if it needs translating.

Some bodies ask for a separate affidavit from the translator about the translation itself. Translator affidavits are quoted separately, where available.

What makes these documents tricky

A declaration is only as useful as its precision. The facts the declarant swears to must be rendered closely, without tidying up their wording, because the original words are the evidence. The formal parts matter too: the jurat or attestation clause, the notary or commissioner's certificate, stamp paper denominations, registration numbers and endorsements on the reverse. Where the original contains handwriting, thumbprints, seals or stamps, each is described in place so the reader can see where it appears.

Who needs it

Requirements for translated evidence differ between courts, tribunals and agencies, so check with the body you are submitting to, or with your lawyer, before you order.

Certified or professional translation?

Choose certified if the translation will be filed, lodged or relied on. It is translated and certified by a NAATI certified translator. Choose professional translation (non-certified) for review and reference. Company certification by Language Masters Pty Ltd is available on request for added assurance of accuracy.

How it works

Upload every page, including the front and back of stamp paper and any notarial pages. Short declarations in many languages are priced instantly; long affidavits with exhibits receive a written quote by email. Your translation is delivered by email as a PDF.

Translation, not legal advice

We translate what your documents say. We do not advise on their legal effect, and we cannot confirm whether a particular court or agency will accept them. Please check requirements with the receiving body or your lawyer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you write an affidavit or statutory declaration for me?

No. We only translate declarations and affidavits that have already been made. A lawyer can help you prepare a new one.

Can you provide an affidavit from the translator?

Translator affidavits are quoted separately, where available. Please mention it when you submit your documents.

Are the exhibits translated too?

Only if you include them. Upload the exhibits with the affidavit and tell us which ones need translating, and they will be included in your quote.

What happens to thumbprints, stamps and handwriting?

Each is described in place in the translation. Handwritten text is translated where it can be read and marked as illegible where it cannot.
