In Nepal, civil registration and many recommendations are handled by the ward office (वडा कार्यालय) of a municipality (नगरपालिका) or rural municipality (गाउँपालिका). Court cases go through the District Court (जिल्ला अदालत), the High Court (उच्च अदालत) and the Supreme Court (सर्वोच्च अदालत).
Nepali documents use the Bikram Sambat calendar (वि.सं.), which runs roughly 56 to 57 years ahead of the Gregorian calendar and has months that do not line up with Western months. Converting it wrongly would change a date of birth or a date of marriage, so the date is translated as written on the document. Many documents also use Devanagari numerals (२०८०), which are converted carefully.
Ward office recommendations follow a set formula, addressed to another office and certifying a fact on the basis of local inquiry. We keep the formula intact. Names are often written with a caste or family name that is spelled differently in English from one document to the next, so send a copy of your passport with your order. Federal restructuring has renamed many local bodies, so an older document may name a Village Development Committee that no longer exists; the translation keeps the name printed on it.

A citizenship certificate is a folded document with text on both sides and a photo, and older ones are handwritten. Scan it fully opened, both sides, and out of its plastic sleeve if possible, because glare on laminate hides handwriting. Ward office recommendations are usually typed but end with a stamp and a reference number from the ward, so make sure the bottom of the page is in the scan. If a document has been certified by a District Administration Office, upload the certification pages too, because they are translated with the document. Where you hold Nepali and English versions from the same office, send both so names stay consistent.
